Takako Otsuki

Takako Otsuki is a lecturer in Japanese Language at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. She has conducted a study in the Japanese translations of works by prominent Spanish authors associated with the literary movements of Romanticism, Realism and Naturalism. She has defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled La traducción y adaptación de las obras de Pedro Antonio de Alarcón a la lengua japonesa: Factores que han influido en la elección de sus obras para ser traducidas y adaptadas at the University of Barcelona. This research examined the author’s presence in the Japanese publishing market and situated it within the broader history of literature translated into Japanese. She has published “Alarcón, el primer escritor español decimonónico traducido al japonés” (La crítica literaria en el siglo XIX, Sociedad de Literatura Española del Siglo XIX, Ediciones de la Universitat de Barcelona, 2024). She is currently researching the Japanese translations of works of Catalan literature.
