Pau Alsina
Pau Alsina is an Associate Professor in Arts and Humanities at the Open University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain). He holds a PhD in Contemporary Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and is a transdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of Art, Science, Technology and Society (ASTS). He was the scientific director of the state-level ASTS White Paper (FECYT, 2023) and served on the Executive Committee of the Barcelona City Council’s Culture Council (2021–2025). He is a founding member of the Spanish ASTS Network (FDNC, 2022–present) and the Catalan inter-institutional hub Hac Te (with partners including BIST, ICFO, UOC, UPF, UPC, NAF and Hangar). Since 2009, he has also been a lecturer on the Master’s in Digital Art Curatorship at the School of Design (ESDI), Ramon Llull University (URL). He has curated exhibitions and programmes (Barcelona Science Biennial, 2019–2021; Ars Electronica Gardens, 2020–2022; NEO CosmoCaixa, 2020–2023, among others) and has directed international events such as the International Symposium on Electronic Arts (ISEA 2022) and the S+T+ARTS Symposium (2024). He has also served on international committees, including the Scientific Board of Media Art Histories (Venice, 2023) and the Computer Art Conference (La Plata, 2024). He has contributed to knowledge transfer in European projects such as S+T+ARTS in the City (2023–2024) across six EU regions and S+T+ARTS Buen Tek (2025–2026) involving six Latin American countries. He is the founding editor of the Scopus-indexed journal Artnodes, ranked Q1 in several Scopus subject areas, including Cultural Studies, Visual Arts and Performing Arts, and Literature and Literary Theory. He has published books, chapters and articles on contemporary philosophy, ASTS and technoculture, and recently co-authored with his brother Xavier the book When Film Becomes a Question (UOC Press, 2025).
