Marc Balló
Marc Balló is a doctoral candidate in the Society, Technology, and Culture program at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). His research investigates the (reciprocal) affectation that the tools available to professional ballet dancers for self-image construction during daily training—specifically mirrors, video feedback, and interactions with both peers and mentors—has on their overall sensory experience and bodily knowledge.
Marc holds a BA in Social Sciences (specialising in Sociology) and an MA in Humanities (specialising in Contemporary Culture), both from UOC. He graduated with honours in both degrees, completing theses on the discourse of the body in Western professional concert dance and how sensitive proximity shapes the (ballet) body in that community, respectively. Currently based in Dessau, Germany, Marc works as a contemporary and ballet dancer for the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau while serving as an assistant professor at the UOC.
