Ramon Balcells Vela

Ramon Balcells is the Communications Manager for the Global Literary Studies Research Laboratory (GlobaLS) and the ERC StG ​​Social Networks of the Past project. Mapping Hispanic and Lusophone Literary Modernity, 1898-1959” (Grant agreement: 803860), led by Diana Roig-Sanz at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

He holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations (2014) and a masters’ degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies (2021), both from Pompeu Fabra University. At this same university he will carry out his thesis on the cinema of Pere Portabella.

Since 2019 he works as an associate teacher in the Communications Department at UPF, where he teaches audiovisual theorical and practical courses.

In the communication sector, he has worked both in agencies and clients. He has been creative member at the Barcelona World Race regatta (2014-2015), co-founder and audiovisual director at the Jaimito agency (2016-2018) and copywriter at The Coffee Pot agency (2016-2020).

Through his own production company Cortado Films he develops short films and artistic installations. His films have participated in festivals such as D’A Film Festival, L’Alternativa or Filmadrid. He has been assistant to filmmakers as Pere Portabella, Albert Serra, Lluís Miñarro and José María de Orbe, and to the artistic curator Carles Guerra. He is a member of the laboratory History (s) of experimental cinema at Arts Santa Mònica, led by Andrés Duque.
